Inspired by the lives of students across Latin America throughout the 20th century and recent decades, Home explores friendship, sacrifice, and commitment, shaped by the lasting impact of political upheaval on everyday life.
The end title sequence places the campus of the National University of Colombia at the center of the narrative, portraying walls that speak, halls that resist, and a collective struggle for freedom intertwined with the lives of its protagonists. Visually, the sequence pays tribute to the aesthetics of everyday, utilitarian photography from the 1980s, as well as the graphic design language of that era.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
After understanding the set and setting of Home, and defining the National University as the central axis of the sequence, the creative direction focused on merging everyday photography from 1980s Bogotá with the university’s utilitarian architecture. Walls, corridors, and public spaces became carriers of political messages, memory, and resistance.
This visual approach intersects with the graphic design language of the era, using utilitarian grotesque typefaces such as Helvetica alongside early digital fonts designed for electric typewriters and early computing systems, including Microsoft’s OCR-A.
